Meeting with Mohammad the night before the wedding was such a pleasure! He talked about how he had planned the wedding so Yaqeen wouldn't have to stress about the little details and that he wanted to just meet up and talk! My kind of groom!
Come the day of the wedding I was able to take photos of Yaqeen getting ready before we headed out to Mohammads house where they would meet with friends and family all around to bless them and get ready to dance the night away! We whisked ourselves away to a modern cityscape since Mohammad or Yaqeen wasn't really into the greenary that Ohio provided. Being only a few blocks away from their hotels reception, we made do with a national bank building that matched their wedding attire and provided us with just the right amount of moodiness.
As I walked back to the hotel, the couple hopped into their white mercades to make their grand entrance! And boy was it grand! Family gathered all around to set Yaqeen and Mohammad into their reception room where they began to slow dance. The rest of the night went on full of laughs and yells of excitement as family members danced the depka and consistently showered the couple with words of prosperity and love.
When I heard I was going to shoot Anissa and Haydees Wedding I was filled with excitement and heres a short list of reasons why:
- Located in Flagstaff
- LGBTQ Babes
- Star Wars Themed Wedding
Need I say more???
Once the big day came, I was able to go up and meet Anissa where I was greeted by her and her "Henchmen" and some shots of patron and Angry Orchards. Once I was done with my bottle and taking their photos, I was able to go and meet Haydee. With a beautiful gown from Strut Bridal, this marvelous girl was surrounded by her family and friends getting ready. Haydee and I snuck away to where we'd meet Anissa for their first look at the High Country Conference Center in downtown Flag.
From there we went further into the city with Archer poses in mind and big giddy smiles on all of our faces. Haydee killed her posing and Anissa kept yelling how hot Haydee looked. True love, am I right? Next it was off to the ceremony held in the front lawn of the build where Anissa and Haydee first met at NAUs old main building. Tears were shed, jokes were humorous and smiles were plentiful while Haydee gently placed Anissas ring on her broken hand.
After the "I do's" we headed to the reception area to take in the beautifully light room filled with sweet and small tokens of Star Wars references. From table names of planets to a three tiered wedding cake decorated with sugar molds of Vader and a Storm Trooper as cake toppers. Once dinner was finished toasts from and to the couple were exchanged along with stories of how the girls met. The room was over flowing with love, giggles and bad puns as the girls danced to "Bitch Better Have My Money" as their dollar dance!
We ended the night with a quick session of Haydee and Anissa with their lightsabers in hand and a small shot of patron to send me on my way.
You guys, my heart is MELTING WITH LOVE FOR THIS POST. I shot Heather and Santiagos engagement shoot, their wedding and now? Their maternity session! Enjoy
Capturing Jessica and Joes wedding day was filled with fun, excitement and beautiful flowers. Their Tiffany blue and strong orange color scheme warmed my heart but the whole night was warm seeing as it was held outside in one of the many Botanical Gardens venue spots!
As the sun set, the party only barely got started with beautiful toasts from the maid of honor and best man along with parents. Jess and Joes first dance to Sara Bareilles "I Choose You" summed up the rest of the night: Perfect and Upbeat.
Stephanie and Bryant are a force to be reckoned with! Stephanies childhood dream of becoming an actual princess came true seeing as her fire fighting husband would and could sweep her off her feet....Literally.
Braynt and his men made it easy taking photos of such joking banter and witty comebacks as Stephanie got ready. Bryant was kind enough to get his men some bottle openers... but not just any bottle openers, no, he gave everyone bottle openers that were place on a rustic wood bottle cap catcher with that grooms mens last name initial on it along with their favorite beer in bag.
Bryant and the guys were totally willing and even more enthusiastic than I prepared for their photoshoot together. After Bryant and his mother did and exchanging of cards and shared a sweet moment before she gave her boy away.
As the ceremony dawned on us everyone got into place under the beautiful canopy of tree branches that covered the area at the Royal Palm Springs Resort. Stephanie and Bryants wedding vows were so sweet, and full of love everyone was smiling ear to ear as they walked down the aisle finally married.
With a quick session of portraits between Stephanie and Bryant underway, the reception room was being set up to perfection by staff members as guests were encouraged to take a selfie with Fuji Film polaroids to put into the couple wedding night album.
Like mention above, Stephanie and Bryants grand entrance was one for the books as Bryant easily picked Stephanie up and carried her across the dance floor! They danced their first dance and then spilt to dance with their Mother and Fathers respectively. But a night isn't done till the cake is cut, obviously! The couples small two tiered vanilla cake was perfectly matched with chocolate cupcakes filled with peanut butter for the guests. The rest of the night was hit with friends and family....And I guess you could say they lived happily ever after!
Funny story! I met Amer at a different wedding we were both vendors at! We ended up having a sit down convo later about work and he then booked me right then and there!
Anyways, getting to shoot their wedding was so much fun! I love shooting at Val Vista Lake clubhouse, the property is whimsical and cute and warm and just versatile! Amer and Kathy’s quaint mixed wedding features some of my favorite things: warmth, sincerity and depkah dancing!
